1961 Apostille Convention Enters into Force for Algeria
Development summary
According to an HCCH News announcement dated 9 July 2026, the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents entered into force for the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria following the deposit of its instrument of accession on 5 November 2025. The notice also states that the Convention has 130 Contracting Parties, that Algeria is not yet a Member of the HCCH, and that this is the first HCCH convention or instrument it has joined.
