Development summary
The HCCH Experts’ Group examining the use of video-link and other modern technologies in taking evidence abroad held its first meeting in The Hague from 2 to 4 December 2015. It was attended by 39 experts representing 26 States and two international organisations, together with members of the Permanent Bureau.
The Group’s full report was circulated as Preliminary Document No 8 in preparation for the Conference’s forthcoming Council on General Affairs and Policy. The meeting’s work was therefore given a formal report for consideration within the Conference’s policy process.
Research note
Why does it matter?
The meeting brought the use of video-link and other modern technologies in taking evidence abroad into the HCCH’s policy work through its first experts’ discussion. Circulating the report as Preliminary Document No. 8 placed the issue before the Council on General Affairs and Policy for institutional consideration in the field of international civil procedure.
