Cape Town Convention conference discusses implementation and procedural models
Development summary
The Cape Town Convention Academic Project (CTCAP) held its annual conference on 23–24 September 2026 at Robinson College, Cambridge. Marking UNIDROIT's centenary and the Convention's anniversary, the programme focused on the relationship between treaty compliance and domestic implementation and enforcement.
Speakers discussed how the exercise of the Convention's remedies depends on national procedural law and how a common model procedural law could address gaps. The programme also examined a framework for evaluating the economic effects of private law reforms, China's declarations under the Convention and the relationship between credible government commitments and financing costs.
